Implementation Model

Doctors Beyond Medicine Foundation adopts a structured implementation approach that connects community engagement, institutional strengthening, and knowledge systems to ensure that programmes lead to practical and sustainable outcomes. The Foundation works through three complementary levels of engagement.

01

1. Community-Level Engagement

At the community level, the Foundation focuses on strengthening awareness, skills, and local participation. Programmes are designed to ensure that individuals and communities have access to relevant information and practical learning opportunities that support everyday decision-making and problem-solving.

Key approaches include:

  • Community awareness programmes on education, health, and livelihoods
  • Life skills and employability training for youth
  • Preventive health awareness and community health education
  • Skill development initiatives linked to local livelihood opportunities
  • Engagement with community groups and local institutions
  • Promotion of indigenous knowledge systems and local practices
02

2. Institutional Partnerships

Recognising that sustainable change requires strong institutions, the Foundation works closely with government bodies, educational institutions, development organisations, and private sector partners. Institutional collaboration helps ensure that programmes are implemented at scale.

Key areas of engagement include:

  • Technical support to education and development programmes
  • Capacity building and training for institutions and frontline practitioners
  • Development of programme guidelines and knowledge resources
  • Support for documentation of programme experiences and best practices
  • Collaboration with institutions in education, health, and livelihood promotion
03

3. Knowledge and Communication Systems

A key component of the Foundation’s work is strengthening knowledge dissemination and development communication. We support the creation of knowledge products that help practitioners share learning and improve programme design.

Key activities include:

  • Documentation of field experiences, case studies, and best practices
  • Preparation of research reports and programme documentation
  • Development of communication materials and coffee table books
  • Audio-visual documentation and digital knowledge resources
  • Knowledge-sharing platforms and learning exchanges

4. Approach to Sustainability

Across all programmes, the Foundation prioritises approaches that build local capacity, institutional ownership, and knowledge sharing. The objective is to ensure that initiatives continue to benefit communities even beyond the direct involvement of the Foundation.Through community engagement and institutional collaboration, Doctors Beyond Medicine Foundation works to create practical pathways for strengthening education, health awareness, and sustainable livelihoods.
